i am programming a basic convoy system for chrono pod transportation at the time.
i will upload it soon, so you can use it optionally for testing.
the basic features are:
* if you have a chrono mine you will be able to send your chrono pods home with a convoy, that doesn't cost you a fleet slot or mp.
* if it get get's attacked (on your homeplanet for example) you wont lose points (you can only lose your chrono pod )
* it has a warp 4 ship
future features (next era) will be:
* 3 possible chrono mines (or any number that makes sense)
* usage of convois for transport will be mandatory
* the posibilty to intercept convois in flight
* maybe defensive ships for you convoy - escorts
* we'll see...
i am doing this as a founding structure for establishing a more thrilling economic simulation to the whole game. the centering resource will be chrono matter - which will be useful for many things. i will post a complete suggestion post about it. for now not much will change - just adding a convinient way to transport your pods home. |

Sounds great. Good job. Can't wait to see it up. I might get off my lazy ass and recapture a colony if the Chrono Pods flew to me. Does this mean there will be new technologies centered around these new features, or any of this added to existing technologies?

it's online and operational ...
if you have a chrono mine you can use it...
it is pretty beta - pls be prepared to find some rough edges -iit was really hard to program - just post all strange occurences

there will be room for many technologies and concepts -
one idea is to make chrono matter like money - you can recycle your pods to bank them in your base (or rebuild chrono pods from banked chrono matter)- then there could be invaders that steal chrono matter ... aso. |

Would it be incredibly difficult, or far from your intention, to be able to convoy Chrono-Pods to other locations besides your home planet? Like, lets say, they are convoyed to the location of your Shipyard or possibly to a pre-warp that you have a colony on?
I know it doesn't much effect or mean much to alot of people, but it could be really useful to vicariously gather pods in other locations, for those people who have used a Pioneer-Ship or to those strategic players who are always off conquering colonies, far from their home planets or Chrono-Mines. _________________

yes ... already though about that too
today i programmed the intercept-convoy-functionality (will be uploaded when era ends)
needs carful testing, though
we will add more features after some time... big changes need time - bugfixing |

I am still unclear on the exact mechanics of the convoy system.. Could someone please summarize how it works?
I. How do you launch a convoy?
II. How many convoys can you have launched at once?
III. Do they show up on probes? If so, under what name? (I didnt spot anything on DSP when I launched a convoy)
IV. Can you only launch convoys to your home planet?
V. How do you intercept a convoy?
Answers to basic mechanics questions like this would be greatly appreciated! (I think, at this point, only you admins know enough about it to answer) _________________
