How about a expansion of Spacetrace where players could improve their combatskills?
In Spacetrace academy you should be able to learn how to configure your fleet in differents way and immediately see the results of it in the simulator.
I belive this could be fun and give a new injection in this game.
Everybody knows how many hours it takes to send probes, build fleets and travel to the destination.
While you waiting for that you could spend some time in here and get better.
You could also challenge other players in the simulator.
Why not have a Quick Combat Tournament?
Perheps there are any better ideas then this, but the purpose should be for the players who love this game to have more things to do while we are waiting for the next battle.
Anybody likes the idea??
Please comments. |

LOL..of course the new ones will learn faster. Why they need to wait a year to understund how to configure a fleet?

I like the idea of fleet test.
Like you select the type of fleet you want to fight (are predetermined)Like eagle fleet
And test you fleet against that...
I like the idea.

I mean when i first join Spacetrace it took me about a year to understund how to do...
not because im stupid (lol i hope), becasue the game is so slow...
i can wait today many hours for a battle, but i wish i had a simulator meanwhile so i could create battle situations and see whats happening...
Do i make sense?
Understand my bad english? |

And it would be so fun if we could have a Quick Combat Tournament...
here all of players could meet and build there own fleets and fight in a minute..
And we could meet players who we never fights to in spacetrace because they to far away...
Here all could meet..i love the idea.. |

I like it, im new to the game, but I think im learning that its not always good to have 500 fighters when the other guys has only class 2 and 3 at him base so im happy. But still I would LOVE a quick fight thingy who knows maybe they could have a score thing on it too that helps...or hurts...your ST score like in tornys that u were talkin about. You should make a poll to make it ezer t read all the YES votes . |

I just want to throw my thoughts out there. I like the idea, and I think it would be neat to play with different fleets and ships, but I'm sure that would be a lot of work for the admin, and it would probably not be worth the trouble.
Once the simulator lost it's novelty value, I could not see it holding anyone's interest. Most of the enjoyment of the game is in manoevering your fleets, communicating with allies/enemies, researching new ships, probing, etc. The actual battles are a part of a whole. I don't believe that any one part, by itself, is the most attractive part of the game.
The actual battles are certainly not chess. If you could use any ship, and fight immediately, it would likely get boring, and may take some of your interest from the game itself. The battle is your reward for your work.
Don't get me wrong. I would use it too. I just don't think it would be worth the admin's time to create something like this.

em smurf, isnit the other way around? I m sure a combatpilot will be bored to fly a sim after flying in real battle...?
I have to agree with Achilles.
Its a nice idea for the overload of spare time but it could bring the entertainment level down. |

I agree with Achilles too, it'll be cool in the beginning, but it will get boring after a while(maybe a long time) |
