Attack Codes.......What happened??

I would appreciate if someone could answer me this:

I sent a fleet to help a friend of mine of a different alliance. He had his fleet on his planet and was being besieged by other 2 players.....

I got there using the same alliance attack code he was using.

The thing is that my fleet attacked the other two guys AND HIS PLANET!!!!!.... since we used the same attack code I didn't attacked his fleet.

I just want to know why this happened and if it was a bug or a mistake of ours.

When you help another player out side your alliance at there planet set it to defence.When you attack another players planet together use the attack code.make sure if they have fleets at home they set them to def too.

If you are not a member of the alliance, using their attack code will not stop you fighting their base. They should either have home fleets set on defense so you can land, or, they should defend themselves.

Because the base is always set to defense, it will fight all Non-allies set to something different, even the own alliance code.

From now on, every time I go out there to another out of the alliance player's base, I will set my fleet attitude to defense.
